Oracle Cloud: DaaS customers need to patch due to excessive I/O
Tonight we get an article from MOS entitled "ALERT: Customers with Database as a Service instances must apply a critical patch as soon as possible" from document ID 2068023.1 which is important because specific disk volumes can grow to 90%, prevent backups from running, and a negative I/O performance issue can occur!

Weekend Learning: Oracle Data as a Service
Last year I posted a nice article I found about DaaS (Data as a Service), but did you know that Oracle now has their own DaaS product? It was news to me too! This post from the Oracle Cloud Solutions site lead me over to the Oracle Data as a Service for Business and Oracle Data as a Service for Marketing data sheets but I thought the highlight was the mention of Oracle's BlueKai product which sounds like a centralized source to allow your customers to opt-out from multiple platforms/campaigns with a single touch point.

Introduction to Data as a Service via Social Media
I read this article several weeks ago which introduced me to the concept of Data as a Service (which does seem to be a natural extension of the I(nfrastructure)aaS, P(latform)aaS and S(oftware)aaS that we all know and love already. The slides really do the introduction justice as the example is easy to understand for how social media is digested and analyzed between "public data" or application data among many different dimensions. It is also an extension of the Oracle Cloud offering as well, since the KPIs and other devices which you can use to gather data really belong in a large repository type receptacle with easy to use features. Great article, very informative, and just touches the surface of a new concept enough that I want to go out and learn more.
