Payables: Can you reimport an expense report?

I have never really seen a question like this before, but "Is it Possible To Reinstate an Expense Report That Has Already Been Imported Into Payables and Deleted As An Invoice?" on My Oracle Support from article ID 2023674.1 has several other notes available related to information on this subject AND it has details about the application which you may not have already known!

Weekend Learning: Troubleshooting Internet Expense reports

Do you already know everything there is to know about Internet Expenses and think you cannot learn more?  Well article "How To Find And Troubleshoot Internet Expense Reports Within Workflow" on My Oracle Support from note ID 185004.1 has a lot of information including something new I found called an "Oracle Internet Expenses Enhanced Diagnostics" tool!

Expenses: Can you use location to obtain mileage?

That is the question being asked in My Oracle Support note ID 2003154.1 "Is It Possible To Derive Mileage By Location In Iexpenses?" and the answer may surprise you since other Oracle customers are looking at using third party products to do this job.

R12.1.2: Internet Expenses may throw Java Unparseable errors

Following a lot of what I have been doing on the blog lately, My Oracle Support document "Expenses Unparseable Date Error" from note ID 1986536.1 has yet another lesson about verifying your application changes because this issue stems from an ICX profile option which changed with the patch/upgrade.  Sure R12.1.2 is lower than R12.1.3 that I see a lot of error reports for, and it seems like most people have gone to R12.1.3 also, but there is no reason we cannot learn something from this issue by preparing for this type of change going forward so that we do not get caught out by any of these changes in the future!

R12.2.3: AME works for a single OU

Tonight is a new bug on EBS R12.2.3 in Internet Expenses where AME rules work for just a single OU (Operating Unit).  The My Oracle Support article "AME Rule Is Working For Only One Operating Unit" in document ID 1947632.1 has the resolution and surprisingly it is NOT a patch this time!  Find out the easy fix for this and how to keep it on your checklist for future upgrades!

Delegation of Expense Reports gives ORA-20001 error

Yesterday I ran into an interesting issue where trying to reassign an expense report from one manager to another resulted in the error:

ORA-20001: Exactly one of an approverRecord's person_id and user_id fields must be null. ORA-06512: at "APPS.WF_ENGINE", line 5931 ORA-06512: at line 1

This error message obviously doesn't make a whole lot of sense, so off to My Oracle Support I went!  I found note 1299908.1 that seemed to be fairly on point, but when I looked neither employee had vacation rules set up and bug 13616552 didn't get resolved yet so that wasn't any help.  Pinging one of my co-workers about this, he knew what was going on with this and asked if I was choosing to transfer the notification or delegate the response.  I wasn't prepared to find out that this happens at times when we choose to delegate the response for notifications to another manager, but on the same record if you choose to transfer the notification to another manager no error message pops up at all!  This seems like such a small thing, but I typically use delegate to switch manager assignments in the system and apparently at some time we introduced this bug into our system.

An odd AME error when submitting expense report

A few days ago we had a user report they had run into an error when they tried to submit their expense report for approval:

Error Name: WFENG_ITEM_ATTR Error Number: 3103 Error Message: 3103: Attribute 'AME_ENABLED' does not exist for item 'APEXP/<expense report ID>'. Error Stack: Wf_Engine.SetItemAttrNumber(APEXP, <expense report ID>, USER_ID, <user ID>) Wf_Engine.SetItemAttrText(APEXP, <expense report ID>, AME_ENABLED, Y

Looking on MOS I found several articles, but none seem to be directly on point as note 401070.1 assumes that a profile option is set wrong (and it isn't for us) and note 317539.1 believes that a tablespace needs to be altered and Apache bounced (neither one needed to be addressed here).  To resolve the issue I had the user withdraw, and then resubmit their expense report, and while I don't know what the root cause for this was I wanted to share it with the community just in case you encounter it in the future.

Internet Expenses - import and approval statuses

Have you ever wondered what import status an Internet Expense is in, or if it's been approved even?  Fear no more Oracle traveller!  I've bookmarked the My Oracle Support note 107849.1 entitled "Explain the Meanings of SOURCE and WORKFLOW_APPROVED_FLAG Column values in Internet Expenses" and this table has come in handy several times when I need to get quick at a glance information about the expense data in the tables.
