Weekend Learning: JMS queues and SOA suite
Have you ever wanted to learn about using a JMS queue for several different message types? How about learning how this gets developed so that you can eventually support something like this? Then Antony Reynolds' post is for you and has some great visuals too!

SOA: Failure to start when missing data source
While MOS note 1630343.1 is straightforward for why a SOA server can't start up when the data source is missing or unavailable, this note has a link to Oracle documentation which explains WHY that is and offers ways to tune data source connections. This has multiple applications as it applies to WebLogic and JDBC connections, so this may add some value for you either today or down the road!

SOA Fault Handling - Part 2
Remember that great article I shared a few days ago about SOA Fault Handling? Did you think it couldn't get better? Well, that's not true! In the next installment, the authors go into detail about the Oracle Service Bus and the hows and the whys behind it helping with fault handling and prevention within the integration layer. Caching, throttling, retry, load balancing, and replies are all types of measures that are at hand to deal with SOA fault handing in a BPM/BPEL environment and this article explains them in good detail with enough pictures to make sure we understand everything.

SOA Fault Handling - Part 1
Did you ever want to learn more about how to deal with fault handling and the associated prevention with SOA and BPM (or BPEL)? Well look no further than this article, found via ArchBeat, to sate your interests! Honestly the article had me from the first lines:
"It is one thing to design and code the "happy flow" of your automated business processes and services. It is another thing to deal with unwanted, unexpected situations that might occur in your processes and services."
Absolutely spot on! Not only do you get the expected rights and wrongs, but we learn very important lessons about what Business Faults are versus the Technical Faults, how they get implemented, and what are some recovery/prevention strategies are.

Are you wise to SAML? Does that make you SAMLwise?
What is SAML? Great question, glad you asked! In our continuing spotlight, I didn't know either until I read this guest author article on Steven Chan's EBS blog about SAML, XML, WS-Security, and the interaction of the Oracle product mix. Not only do we get an in-depth explanation of what these ideas/objects are, but Rekha offers us a nice visual aid which helps to pull the article together. Worth a read, especially if you utilize SOA and looking to help change the landscape at work to make sure your EBS platform stays secure.

SOA, OSB, Fusion Middleware
I found what I think are some quite useful articles detailing the Oracle Service Bus architecture and SOA and Fusion Middleware with some detailed PDFs attached to the end of those articles as well. Along this same vein, I found a great intro to Fusion Security as well from the same ArchBeat entry!
You may be asking yourself: why this sudden interest in all things Middleware? Honestly, it's not such a sudden interest. We have a web of servers and services and the spider in the middle of the web most times is SOA, OSB or some other Middleware layer technology. This isn't really a bad thing most of the time, yet I feel as if I need to know more about the technology and interworkings so this may not interest most people visiting my blog but those people in the same boat (or about to go sailing on the same journey) may find these articles valuable.
