I have found that doing research for one thing, will allow you to peel back layers of the onion on other things that are related to what you're researching for and sometimes others that you find by accident. Case in point is MOS Note 554356.1 about the how and why ORIG_SYSTEM_REFERENCE can't be updated, then opposite is MOS Note 1462348.1 which explains TCA API causes for the errors and also how to fix them. What's so great about this last note? It covers R12 API errors that can be encountered for the TCA product!
Hungry for more? Look at bug 9352630 for another way to solve the problem brought up in Note 554356.1 since it doesn't look like Oracle will be solving this anytime soon.

R12: A/R report goodness (DQM)
The other day a user was perplexed as to why the report DQM Serial Sync Index Program was being kicked off in their concurrent, under their login ID, when they had no idea of what the report was or what it did. I was curious as well, so I probed a bit and asked some follow up questions like what they were doing at the time and it seemed that there was a particular task they were likely doing at the time these reports were being kicked off as them. In the new R12 framework, they were going into the canned Oracle Customer:Standard web form (previously the canned Oracle application form) to update demographic information and to prove this out we had a dummy record changed which then resulted in the DQM Serial Sync Index Program to be submitted in the concurrent manager under the user's login ID.
What is the DQM Serial Sync Index Program you ask? Well, with the changes to TCA (Trading Community Architecture) and the introduction of DQM (Data Quality Management) there have been some new wrinkles added in how updates are made and maintained in the system. I found My Oracle Support notes 465993.1 (explains quite clearly what this is) and 737030.1 (link to the TCA administration guide) quite useful in my efforts to understand this a bit more.

Newsworthy A/R Articles
Continuing the spotlight on the EBS Support blog, I wanted to focus on several articles related to different modules and tonight is the Accounts Receivable module. Have you ever encountered problems with the Autoinvoice? If so, this article is for you! Even if you've never had an issue with the Autoinvoice, the article has a link to the Oracle Receivables User Guide which may have some interesting information in it for you.
Have you heard of the Trading Community Architecture? The TCA is the data model for the relationship between Parties and Customers so it should be interesting to read an article about the way it is changing with R12 right? That's what I thought too! Plus it has more links to help you understand the Customer Form in R12, what troubleshooting methods are in R12, and some common known issues too.
Last, but not least, is a compilation of notes for A/R ranging from XLA, to Create Accounting, to receipt application, to closing periods and duplicating Receipt Numbers! Noteworthy notes indeed!
