R12 Purchasing: PO lines are validated even though they were cancelled
On R12.1.1 "Canceled PO Lines Are Getting Validated During PO Approval" in Purchasing per My Oracle Support note ID 2169842.1 when at least one line is cancelled from a PO that has already been approved! The good news is that there is a patch, and that you can design a testing scenario to validate that this issue does not come back in the future!

R12 Purchasing: Approval of PO with AME ends in ORA-00060 error
If you are on R12.1.3 or R12.2 make sure that you bone up on MOS article "When approving a Purchase Order using AME, the Approval Workflow completes with ORA-00060 and "ECX_PROGRAM_EXIT_EMBD" errors" from note ID 1585839.1 as a certain Transmission Method can cause an ORA-00060 error to happen in the AME Workflow.

R12 Purchasing: Requisitions can be locked by other users
Before reading My Oracle Support article "Line #### Of Requisition ### Currently Locked By Another User When Attempting Autocreate a Purchase Order." from note ID 1998470.1 I did not know that requisitions could be locked by other users except when there were true database locks going on in the system! Check out the reasons behind this, and how it could have been prevented!

R12.1.3 Payables: PO lines are matching out of order
While it may seem like an innocent problem, your business may not enjoy the bug behind "PO Line Matching In Invoice The Lines Are Coming In Reverse Order" found on MOS via note ID 2007474.1 as they may want things to be matched on invoices in the correct order! Visit the article to see what patch details are available to get this resolved!

R12.1.3 Purchasing: Accrual report does not provide output after upgrading
I harp on getting testing suites up and running all the time, and MOS document "AP And PO Accrual Report Did Not Generate Output After Upgrade" from note ID 2003582.1 is a perfect example of why since this would have been a simple item to notice if the report was plugged into a test suite. Visit the document to find out what patch is required to get the report working!

R12.1.3: Cannot unreserve PO to allow changing charge accounts
While you can modify the amounts in the Oracle Purchasing Forms, the document "Unable To Un-reserve PO’s From Buyers Workbench To Allow Changing Charge Account" from article ID 1957711.1 shows us that the amounts cannot be changed via the Buyer Work Center due to a validation check on the html page and what patch will resolve the issue.

R12.1.3: Rejected PO mistakenly documents approval
Obviously the title catches your eye just the way it did mine as I thought I did not read it right the first time I saw it! The content of My Oracle Support document "Purchasing Document was Rejected by the PO Approver, but it is found that the Status is Approved in the Action History" in note ID 1684684.1 actually is exactly what it says as rejected POs are instead documenting approval in the history lines due to a known bug. Are you affected by this? Repeat the steps as Oracle has shared them, and make sure you have already applied the bug fix to prevent data issues!

R12: Reversing matched PO/Invoice distributions
A question that came into my Inbox recently was: can you reverse a PO in R12? I didn't know, so I decided to search out an answer to the question and I found it in the My Oracle Support article "R12: How Do You Reverse PO Matched, Invoice Distributions?" in note 729985.1 which was directly on point. The note said that when you receive an error message of "APP-SQLAP-10103 You cannot reverse this distribution." it is by design as with R12 you cannot reverse matched PO distributions.
What can you do? Well, the note goes on to direct us to go to the Invoice Lines tab and hit the Discard button which with automatically reject the associated PO distributions. To stay up to date with these types of issues, you can join the My Oracle Support community for Payables by clicking this link.

EBS Analyzers
Today in the spotlight on the EBS Support blog I share articles which have a common thread: system analyzers. First up is a new analyzer, which I'm eager to use at work, for PO Approvals because when I've ran the Concurrent Processing analyzer it told me SO much about our system and some of the data which still lingered on in the system. Finally, is the Workflow analyzer which I'm quite fond of because this is the one that started me on a journey which has taken me to giving a presentation in Pittsburgh and really opened my eyes to what BIG type of issues reside in systems that take a lot of work, effort, and mental elbow grease to solve.

Troubleshooting PO Output
After doing my first blog spotlight last month, I'm convinced that it is a good idea so this week I'm going to spotlight the Oracle EBS Support blog. You may be asking yourself how this blog is different from Steven Chan's blog? Well, Steven is in charge of the Applications Technology Group at Oracle and as a result his blog is focused on the EBS from the ATG perspective where this blog is specifically aimed at the EBS and the modules that comprise it.
A few months ago, the Master Troubleshooting Guide for POXPOPDF (PO Output for Communication) was released on My Oracle Support. This guide includes setup checks, targeted patching, common issues, and additional troubleshooting help so it is well worth putting into your toolbox and procedures in order to avoid issues!

R12 and Encumberance accounting: What you need to know!
From the "looking for R12 bugs" category comes this article via the Oracle EBS Support blog letting us know that after applying a RUP patch we can start to encounter INSERT_PACKET_CREATE_EVENT-020: ORA-01400 errors when trying to cancel Purchase Order lines under a specific condition. Worth looking into if you are going to, or are on, R12 to see if this patch has been applied since there is also a fix patch listed in the article as well!

R12 PO diagnostic
Did you know that there is a new, non-invasive, analyzer script for Purchasing in R12? No? Well look no further! Yes we can use it when we have a problem, but the best part of this is the non-invasive part because it means it is a new tool we get to use in a proactive manner when we implement R12. Sure we can use it to investigate problems, but a tool that helps us before a problem? Priceless!
